paper paper every where ...all of it to waste!!!

Hmmm... we all know its happening. The whole "Global warming" thing....i mean except for some characters from maybe south park, who say that there's no valid proof. Well if you live in India, you would definitely know... every year rainfall in areas where it is less it becomes lesser...sea level rises....more kilometers of the coastline gets flooded every year....summers get hotter n winters get colder.
No one takes action....we still use poly bags at the same rate or even more....still use primitive vehicles having bad fuel efficiency n use fossil fuels....etc etc....n then there are thing that cant really be helped. Like using Ac's n Refrigerators...which cant just stop using...something will happen very soon n we all know it.
Yet we do find someone trying to do the needful. Yes not someone actually but a company rather.
Airtel the telephony company in Inda has recently taken measures to reduce the amount of paper consumed due to the billing for the customers. The company has straightforwardly asked its customers to stop demanding --

  • Low value bills(bills that can be carry forwarded to the next month)
  • Not to encourage paper bill(opt for e-bills)
  • Not to request for itemized bills(Detailed bills which require lot of paper.)
Backing this they state that--
Each ton of paper can save
  • 17 trees to produce more oxygen
  • 1438 litres of fuel to run industries
  • 3 cubic yard of landfill space(can be used for housing of the homeless)
  • 4100 kilowatts of electricity(to light a blub in the villages)
  • Over 26497 gallons of fresh water(to provide for drinking or irrigation)
they also say that one tree is used to produce only 3000 sheets of paper.
Yet there are a few people who believe that it falls really expensive for the company to print so many bills n hence it has taken such an action....i dunno i feel how does it matter as long as it helps.

And then there are global companies like "Reader's Digest" oh my god these guy must be the gods of global warming by the amount of paper they waste on their totally bogus and as i must say fraud promotions, advertisements, competitions. They send you a mail not less then twice a month and every time it weighs atleast 400 gms!!! Full of glossy ads about their totally useless new books...n then they have other coupons that are supposed to get u huge discounts on it...but that too only if u participate some money related competition whose result never ever comes out so u keep replying to them n order even more products....i swear those guys should be ashamed of the amount of paper they waste....even after being such a big, old, famous, rich, universal organization.
